Powering the data centre

Data centres are the basic platform that organisations have become more dependent upon. The failure of any aspect of the data centre can lead to a loss of business capability that is expensive at many levels for an organisation. However, the loss of power to the data centre will bring all IT systems within or dependent on it to a halt, and recovery from such an occurrence would be difficult for an organisation of any size. Alongside existing issues of accidental loss of power to the data centre, organisations must start to look to the future, where the possibility of forced power cuts looms as power companies struggle to maintain constant supplies.
